    • We love our small team.

      In a small team, there is nowhere to hide;

In a small team, stars will be able to shine brighter

      Small teams are agile

    • Our Values

How you live today, is how you live your life

Our values are the behaviours and skills that are important to us and that we strive for every day

      Savvy

Challenge the status quo and look for better alternatives.

We listen before reacting or making a decision to ensure we have all the relevant information. We offer solutions that are commercial and practical – not just legal. We strive to articulate well the reasons for the solutions that we offer. We think on our feet, but in a considered manner.

      Curious

We have broad knowledge beyond the law.

We are constantly questioning. We seek to understand all perspectives: the client’s, the adversary’s, the market’s, our colleagues’. We learn eagerly. We are not afraid to try new things.

      Honest

We are candid and open, but not offensive in communicating this.

We are open about our learnings. We only say things about people that we would say to their face.

      Excellence

Continually striving for the highest cloud.

We aim to be the best in the market. Excellence, not perfection. We are always reading and practising to expand our knowledge of markets, the economy, the market and the law.

      Collaborative

We help each other because, together, we can accomplish more.

We share information and knowledge openly and pro-actively. We make time to help colleagues, clients and the community. Leaders are teachers. We are never too big or too senior to do the small things.

We are a team, not a family

We are all striving to win – together. Our love is conditional but fair.

We do not have a “sink or swim” approach. We help each other. But our performance as a team, depends on individual performance. We reward great players and let go of people who underperform or who do not share our values.

      Results, not excuses

      Outcomes are valued

We do not measure people by the number of hours they have billed. We value outcomes, not ticking off check boxes. Other firms talk about “flexible work practices”, we talk about getting the optimum outcome. For Metis Law, so long as you are delivering, we don’t mind if you need to take a longer lunch break to fit in some exercise (in fact, we encourage it), or if you need to work from home to watch the electrician, we will support you (everyone needs electricity!).
